ERFC
The Educational Employees' Supplementary Retirement System of Fairfax County (ERFC) was established July 1, 1973, to provide an independent retirement plan for Fairfax County Public Schools' personnel that supplements the primary benefits they earn and receive separately from the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and Social Security. ERFC is a public sector defined benefit plan, which operates under terms incorporated in the Fairfax County Ordinance and the ERFC Plan Document. The ERFC is governed by a seven member Board of Trustees, which administers the retirement program according to the requirements of the Plan Document and other governing law. The Fairfax County School Board authorizes all changes governing the provisions of the Plan.
ERFC members include retirees, deferred, inactive and active Fairfax County Public Schools personnel, employed full-time in monthly-paid educational, administrative, and support staff positions. (FCPS' part-time administrative employees, as well as those employed in the Transportation, Custodial, Maintenance, or Food Services departments, are provided comparable retirement plan coverage under the Fairfax County Employees' Retirement System (FCERS).
The ERFC provied two defined benefit plan structures:

“When I first received information about California Casualty Auto Insurance I was a bit skeptical about the savings they could offer. Little did I know that I would be saving over $400 a year on my total car insurance bill! With the other benefits such as personal property and vandalism protection- It just made sense for me to switch.”
-Kevin Hickerson, Special Education teacher, Chantilly High School
“I truly love the NEA Professional Library. The books they offer have helped me with mentoring new teachers, classroom management and the first weeks of school.
